Overview

Many of the motifs in Semercioglu’s work relate to traditional crafts and particularly woven carpet tradition that is rooted since centuries in Anatolia.

Semercioglu gives the motifs a central role and prominence and brings attention to the symbols and values of the past and part of the actuality. Anatolian carpets tell the story of women, family, protection, fertility, happiness and gender roles.
