Mario Radev: P-PO-PE-PA

Pi Soundworks presents P-PO-PE-PA, a new exhibition by Mario Radev and the culmination of his five-week residency at PSW.

Over five weeks at Perseverance Works, Radev has built a family of organettes — hand-cranked machines assembled from salvaged parts whose original purpose has lapsed — and used them to play hand-drawn animation as an instrument. Nothing in the room runs by itself. Visitors bring each graphite loop to life by turning it, at whatever speed their hand decides; speed, direction, hesitation and rhythm are theirs.
