Home Scanning V.2

Library Mothership  takes over

Pi Artworks London,  21 - 25 July 2026

A week-long living room, library and book exchange at

Pi Artworks Shoreditch.

Opening: 21 July 2026, 6 - 7 PM

Pi Artworks is pleased to announce a week-long collaboration with Library Mothership that dissolves the boundary between the gallery and the domestic interior. From 21 July to 25 July 2026, Library Mothership will take over the gallery's first floor, transplanting her living room — furniture, personal objects, and a rare book collection — into the exhibition space alongside Mehmet Ali Uysal’s Skin currently on display.

Visitors are invited not to view but to inhabit. Sit down, settle in, and browse the shelves at your own pace. Should a particular page catch your eye, you can request it: fill in a short form and a scan of any pages you'd like to keep will be sent to you afterwards, so the encounter with a rare book leaves with you.

On the ground floor, the gallery becomes a site of exchange. Pi Artworks opens its own extensive collection of art books to the public through a book swap: bring an art book to share and take one home in return. Chosen books can be carried out into the Perseverance Works courtyard and enjoyed over coffee, extending the reading room into the open air.

Together, the two floors reframe the library as a living, circulating thing — something to be sat with, given away, and passed on, rather than archived.

The collaboration runs for one week only at Pi Artworks, 6 Perseverance Works, E2 7NX, Shoreditch, London. Entry is free. Opening hours: 12 - 6 PM

Library Mothership is a visual odyssey crawling across the surfaces of images. It systematically researches, collects, and distributes artists' books, DIY books, non-books, printed fashion and ephemera. Within the furnished surfaces where words meet objects, the cyber-interface meshes analog materials, drawing an iconography of contemporary life and death. It is a home library based in London that travels the world. Previous landing spots include Filet (London) Offprint (London and Paris), Tokyo Art Book Fair (Tokyo), Bungee Space (New York), I Never Read: Basel Art Book Fair (Basel), and more.

Athena Mothership is a humanoid spaceship that travels through time and space and the ages in between. Everything flows in and out, and love is the only thing the vessel holds. Athena is an artist, writer, and creative director with a focus on domestic space and non-human studies, holding an MA in Contemporary Art Practice from the Royal College of Art and a BA in Art History from Peking University. Athena has exhibited at Bomb Factory Art Foundation, Copeland Galleries, Seager Gallery in London, and Bungee Space in New York.
