Library Mothership takes over — Pi Artworks opens its book collection

A week-long living room, travelling library and open book exchange across two floors of Pi Artworks Shoreditch.

From 21 to 25 July 2026, Pi Artworks turns its Shoreditch space into a living library across two floors. On the first floor, Library Mothership transplants her living room, personal objects and rare book collection into the gallery for a week-long takeover. On the ground floor, Pi Artworks opens its own extensive collection of art books to the public through a book swap. The two happenings run alongside one another — and alongside Mehmet Ali Uysal’s Skin, currently on display — reframing the library as a living, circulating thing: something to be sat with, given away and passed on, rather than archived.
Ground floor — The Book Swap
On the ground floor, the gallery becomes a site of exchange. Bring an art book to share and take one home in return. Chosen books can be carried out into the Perseverance Works courtyard and enjoyed over coffee, extending the reading room into the open air. The collaboration runs for one week only at Pi Artworks, 6 Perseverance Works, E2 7NX, Shoreditch, London. Opening: 21 July 2026, 6 – 9 PM. Entry is free. Opening hours: 12 – 6 PM.
