Fabio Lattanzi Antinori I pursuit of a happy person: cue botz: FEATURING ROBOTS AND LIVE PERFORMANCE at Pi Artworks Istanbul

16 - 18 March 2023
“How would you define Happiness?”

This is the question that underpins Pursuit of a Happy Person, an immersive performance by Fabio Lattanzi Antinori. Combining technology, philosophy, vocal and visual art, the artist creates poetry from the structures that shape our everyday lives – drawing attention to how our emotional experiences are shaped by consumer capitalism.

Having created an international survey asking how we define ‘happiness’ in the present day, Antinori then created his ‘Bots,’ which traverse the gallery space, displaying a range of the survey answers on their screens. Responding both physically and emotionally to the Bot’s prompts, London-based performer Tommy Langdale and Ezgi Aydin reacts to different notions of what constitutes a truly ‘happy’ person.

The stark contrast between the fluidity of human movement with that of the mechanical bots highlights the capacity we have to find happiness even amongst the most technology-dominated, financially focused world we live in.
