On the 4th November at 6:30pm, La Stampa journalist Nicolas Lozito will moderate a panel discussion with the artist Fatma Bucak, curator and art critic Jacopo Crivelli Visconti, art historian and critic Valerie da Costa, curator Irina Zucca Alessandrelli, and journalist Giulia Zonca.
The political, social and technological disruptions of our time continue with irrepressible speed. The narratives of tradiitional journalism are constantly evolving and forming hybrids between the printed page and the digital dimension. Daily newspapers seem to have taken on a function that is more a matter of commentary than of news. At the same time, in recent years the desire and ability of artists to narrate the present in real time, stimulating debate and reactions, seem to have grown. What relationship is taking form between art and journalism in this reciprocal evolution of identity? Can art, together with curating, approach journalism in order to rapidly respond to the unfolding of events? Is it a legitimate role, or is this power simply abdicated to art as a tool of thought that exerts its own influence? At the same time, can journalism look to artistic languages in order to reflect on its own position and on the creative ability to prompt reflections?
